About

Vanessa Gunton is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS). She has worked extensively across many different educational settings in her role as a school psychologist. She has over 25 years of experience providing psychological support for children, parents, and teachers in Perth.

Vanessa completed her psychology studies at the University of Western Australia. She obtained a Bachelor of Psychology Degree in 1996. She completed a Diploma of Education with a major in School Psychology in 1997. After completing her studies, Vanessa has worked in the private school sector as a psychologist and in leadership positions.

Vanessa began her private practice, Butterfly Psychology for Kids, because she is passionate about helping parents achieve the best educational and life outcomes for their children. The Butterfly is a symbol of transformation, hope, and endurance. Vanessa is committed to supporting you to help nurture your child’s abilities so that they can successfully navigate life and be happy and confident individuals.

As a mother of three children herself, Vanessa understands how challenging and overwhelming it can feel as a parent when you have a child who requires additional support. Her son has been diagnosed with Dyslexia, so she understands that having a child with unique needs can be both a gift and a challenge. Vanessa’s lived experiences as a mother and psychologist have given her insight into the journey many parents find themselves navigating with their child.
